Ownership | A Brush With Kindness
Habitat Homeowners take pride in the home they help build. Partner families contribute 500 hours of “sweat equity” usually helping build their home or working on another Habitat home. These homeowners work side by side with volunteers and, together, a home is built and friendships are built. Foothills Habitat for Humanity has a Family Selection Committee which reviews applications, interviews, and makes recommendations regarding the selection of families. Families are selected based on various criteria including:

Read the full story from the Press Tribune What does a lower-income homeowner do when their monthly income won't cover needed home repairs or landscape maintenance issues? Often, there is very little money left over after paying for life’s necessities such as food, clothing, and utility bills but if home repairs and maintenance are postponed for too long, health and safety concerns increase. Foothills Habitat has started this new program, called "A Brush With Kindness", which is an extension of our mission to provide safe, decent, and adequate homes for families in need. A Brush with Kindness began with the Twin Cities, Minneapolis Habitat for Humanity affiliate. The program assists low-income homeowners with exterior repairs, modifications, or maintenance needs such as painting or landscaping. Priority will be given to seniors, disabled persons, and single parent households but all very low-income homeowners may apply. |
